Foundation Gives Christmas To Critically Ill Children
On December 7, 2008, Mr. and Mrs. Claus visited Northwoods at Hilltop’s pediatric unit bringing gifts to more than 20 pediatric patients with varying degrees of traumatic brain injury, neuromuscular disorders, and other complex medical needs. In addition, the children were entertained by a popular children’s band, The Zucchini Brothers...all because of the generosity of the David B. Silipigno Foundation. David created the Christmas party after being inspired by the story of a nine-year old child he never met after hearing about the care she received by Northwoods at Hilltop’s staff. With little chance for survival at birth, the child, whose name was Hope Ann Genoski, lived well beyond what was expected but eventually passed away from lung complications. She left a legacy that continues to touch the lives of all who visit Northwoods at Hilltop and meet the staff that cared for her, including a nurse who took her home to foster her care in her final year of life. David Silipigno would like to thank the staff at Northwoods for allowing him to be a part of such a special day and contribute gifts to these very special children.
